Ecological Benefits
A Timber Frame Home is by its very nature environmentally friendly as timber is nature’s only renewable resource. The structural framework uses quality stress-graded, softwood timber from managed forests in Scandinavia and Canada, where the cold, dry climate facilitates slow growth of trees. The strict replanting programmes in these managed forests ensure that many more trees are planted than harvested, leaving a net growth each year.

Energy Efficiency
One of the most important advantages that a timber frame home has over its masonry equivalent is that is easily outperforms in terms of insulation. Not only does it take less energy (oil, gas etc.) to heat the house but it also heats up quickly giving a rapid response from when the heating system starts. Kenmare Timber Frame can supply a specificaton to give a ‘U’ value as low as 0.19 w/m2 which is far better than that required by the regulations.
