Two of the main benefits of timber frame are reduced time on site and quality of construction. Reduced time on site results in less dependency on weather conditions and of course a quicker turnaround from commencement date to finished building. Quality of construction requires minimal tolerances on site which results in increased accuracy throughout the site. Timber frame by its very nature as a sustainable material is an environmentally friendly form of building construction in its consumption of
energy and water resources as well as facilitating far greater thermal efficiencies
than standard building practices. When constructed correctly, timber frame buildings readily comply with sound requirements.

Fire performance
All buildings must meet the minimum fire performance criteria as laid down in the building regulations. No exception is made for timber frame buildings which must fully comply with building regulations in relation to fire. In the case of timber frame construction, 30 minute or 60 minute fire resistence is readily achieved through the appropriate application of plasterboard. Timber frame party walls are 60 minutes fire rated.

Planning
All planning authorities accept Timber Frame Homes and process applications for planning permission in exactly the same manner as other dwellings and traditional construction methods.

Finance
Lending institutions treat loan applications for a timber frame house in the same way as any other application.
